This style of shield effect was somewhat of a gauntlet. (The kind that is usually dramatically thrown to the ground, instead of being used for protection of the hand.) Someone on the Homeworld Trek boards wondered where ggogo's shields were, and after a few hours, this type of shield suddenly appeared. It impressed a few people, but the shields were pronounced 'not Trek-like.' Fortunately, MrMiny suggested that the Star Wars: Fleet Academy mod might like the effect. They did. These shields are the same shields rejected by the Trek team, but recolored to match the bullets that triggered the hit event, with explosions added to some of the more powerful weapons.
Instructions
This is a very involved installation process, and if you're looking for the full Star Wars weapon experience, just download the Star Wars: Fleet Academy mod. But if you want shields on other ships, download this and mix-and-match to your heart's content. Begin by unzipping into your homeworld directory, then follow the mini-novel of a readme file.
