Homeworld Effects Manual: timeBlock(), time()
timeBlock(variable)
{
time(float time1, vartype val1)
time(float time2, vartype val2)
....
}
Continuously changes a variable's value over time.
This structure goes in the timeIndex section. The timeBlock statement says which variable is affected, and each time() statement has a value and a time at which variable will have that value. The times do not have to be in order; there can even be multiple time() statements with the same time1 value. In that case, the first statement encountered will be used. The graph below indicates how this works. The values val1, val2 and so on are like keyframes for the variable. Its value changes over time to match the next value at the next timestamp.
Often this is used with and RGBA variable and the modifyColorA() command to make an object opaque ofr a time, then make it fade away. It can also be used to make objects grow and shrink at variable rates.
