Homeworld Effects Manual: setVelR()

setVelR(float value)

Sets object's radial speed to value meters per second.

Default value: value = 0

Homeworld effects use cylindrical co-ordinates. Think of a clock face. The hands point in the R direction, i.e. radially outwards. setDeltaR() determines how fast an object moves in the R direction. The angle at which the object moves is determined elsewhere. If the object's DeltaR attribute has been set (via the setDeltaR() command), the angle is inherited from there. If that attribute has not been set, the angle is random. However, the angle will always be in the plane of the clock face. Combining this command with setVelLOF() lets you move objects in any direction. Some of Relic's EBG files use a second parameter with setVelR(), which looks like an angle. This has no effect on the direction of the object. It's just the gibberish-tolerance not punishing the extra, useless parameter.
