Homeworld Effects Manual: setOffsetTheta()

setOffsetTheta(float value)

value can be an integer constant, a floating-point constant, or a floating-point variable. Using an integer variable will not cause a crash, but has the same effect as setOffsetTheta(0), which is not very useful.

setOffsetTheta() is an odd command. Obviously it is meant to offset an effect by an angle. However, in order to keep effects from looking the same, Homeworld has a lot of randomization built in. Theta is one of the values that is randomized. Adding a constant to a random variable doesn't change it's distribution, so using only setOffsetTheta() is useless. This is the only command that theta gets all to itself. All other commands that change theta also change r, and are labelled with r. Use setDeltaR() and setDeltaRDist() instead of this command and setOffsetR().
