Homeworld Effects Manual: setMesh()
setTexture(filename meshfile)
meshfile is the filename of the mesh, including the path from homeworld\ and the extension. Thus, if you wanted to use homeworld\etg\meshes\misc\nonsprite.geo, meshfile would be etg\meshes\misc\nonsprite.geo. Relative pathing is allowed, so you can reach directories above homeworld\. .. means the parent of the current directory, and . means the current directory. I could even retrieve a PEO from my Quake 3 directory, although why I would do such a thing is beyond me.
setMesh() is necessary when setting up meshes, and pretty much useless for any other type of object.
It is possible to use setMesh() with createEffects(), but since effects usually call setDefaults() and/or setMesh() before creating anything, setMesh() will have no effect. It is possible to have a file that does not call setDefaults() at the beginning and thus depends on the calling file for some attributes, but such files are risky. If the calling file does not provide what the file is expecting, it may produce garbage.
Sprites, Circles, Lines, and Points do not have meshes, so setMesh() is useless for them. /body>
