Homeworld Effects Manual: setDeltaR()

setDeltaR(float distance, float angle)

Offsets object's position by distance meters radially and by angle radians.

Default values: distance = 0, angle = 0

Legal values: distance: all real numbers, angle: all real numbers

This command is a bit odd. It's got 'delta' in its name, but it does not set up a rate of change. To give objects speeds along various axes, use commands that start with setVel. Homeworld effects use cylindrical co-ordinates. Think of a clock face. The hands point in the R direction, i.e. radially outwards. The clock hands point to different numbers depending on their angle. The picture below will make everything clear. setDeltaR() moves an object outward distance meters, at angle radians. Actually, that's not quite true. Homeworld's robust randomization features include a default DeltaRDist(0, pi). That means that if you want the angle you enter in this command to have any effect, you must also use setDeltaRDist()
