It's about time! I don't know when I found out about the Macross: Do you Remember Love? mod, but it was long ago, before the day of transformable Valkyries and all. No, I remember when the Macross was a gigantic white mothership, and when I found this mod, I knew I had to make the main gun effect. After all, that's pretty much what I do. Cnl Pepper invents debris and ship-specific hyperspace and I make an alright version of the Excalibur Main Guns. The Great Wars boys outdo my attempt and I make the Lexx weapon and the Obliterator Superlaser. I'm a superweapons kind of guy.
The DYRL team was very kind, supplying me with many screen captures for reference, but it still took me this long to make even this effect. The fireEvent needs some work, to be sure, but I'm rather proud of the beam itself. Believe it or not, the pictures I have that show the beams impact actually resemble the odd effect I have made. Please note that this effect is designed to fit the specific Macross model I'm using, and will probably look funny attached to anything else.
Instructions
Unzip buster.zip into your Homeworld directory. Open r2.script and replace the entry for the smallIonCannon with the following block of text:

There are no default ships that are equipped with smallIonCannons. You may want to pick a different weapon slot, or make sure you have a few modded ships that use the smallIonCannon.
