Subspace Relay Station

Subspace Relays are the backbone of the Federation communications network. They serve as routers ensuring that signals reach their intended recipitants and also as a booster station, enhancing and preserving weak signals from subspace degradation.

All throughput is logged in case they are needed at a future time, special facilities also exist for decryption of signals allowing messgaes to be intercepted and decoded for intelligence purposes.

Several relay stations are often deployed per star system, although a single station is usually capable of handling all the message traffic, others act as backups in case of computer failure or destruction of one station.
