Steamrunner Class

Designed alongside the Sabre, the Steamrunner has become a familiar sight among Federation starships, serving as a light cruiser and exploration vessel. Unlike most other starships, the Steamrunner features a radically new hull design, with the nacelles forming part of the primary hull. This allows for high speed warp travel, however to make this possible, the structural integrity field systems have had to be substantially redesigned.

Recently many starships have been upgraded with torpedo modules for use during the Dominion war as deep range scouts, the Steamrunner has also seen action against the Borg emerging favourably.

Recent upgrades, however, have reduced the ships crew and shuttle capacity considerably.
