Stinger Class

After the Dominion discovered that the wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant had been mined, a decision was made by joint Cardassian and Dominion officials to pursue the feasibility of producing Dominion ships in Cardassian shipyards. The tests required experimentation with the compatibility of Dominion and Cardassian parts, tools, and power supplies. To that end, a small, agile ship using solely Dominon technology was designed and built by a team of
Dominion and Cardassian engineers. The result was the Stinger, a ship slightly larger than the Peregrine Tactical Fighter, and extremely deadly in swarms.

The lessons learned in the production and design of the Stinger class fighter paved the way for the construction of the Dominion Attack Fighters, Heavy Cruisers, and Battleships in Cardassian facilities. As a bonus, the Dominion added to its arsenal a small, dangerous fighter capable of fast hit and run raids and anti-fighter defense.
