Dreadnought

Initially conceived and manufactured during the Maquis conflict, the Dreadnought Intersteller Missile. In its initial stages of deployme nt, it was indeed a super weapon. It had advanced AI systems, powerful shields and even defensive armaments, and enough explosive power to destroy a small moon!

The Cardassian Military aimed its first Dreadnought at a Maquis munitions dump. Unfortunately, the missile failed to detonate, and was captured by Maquis engineers. After the Cardassians received word of the missile's failure to destroy its target, the project was
scrapped.

When the Dominion-Cardassian alliance was founded, Dominion officials encouraged the Cardassian Military to revive the project, with modifications to the design. The new Dreadnought is somewhat smaller and less powerful, but it is much cheaper to produce.
The missile is now employed in sub-light battles, where its warhead has been optimized for anti-ship action
