Scaling Tutorial

Ok guys, I'm gonna give a quick and dirty tutorial here on scaling and orienting ships for Homeworld and Cataclysm. Everything here is based on SoA scaling, because as far as I'm concerned it's the universal constant.
First I recomend using the simplest tool. Milkshape 3d. It's a super simple program and can accomplish most modeling tasks. Also, you'll need 3d Explorer (but then all good modder's have this program, right?).

Ok. Let's assume you have a mesh of a ship you wish to put into Homeworld. I'm going to use Redragon's Akira mesh as an example.

Now then this mesh is way too small, and facing the wrong way. First thing is orientation. Easiest way to make sure you are right is to import a ship that is already oriented correctly. Get the correct ship by taking a .peo of a ship already in Homeworld, and saving it as .3ds (you can use another format but I recomend .3ds) using 3d Explorer. OK import this ship in with the ship you're trying to scale. make sure that you have the Materials box UNchecked on the import dialog (otherwise you'll just be putting in materials you don't want or need).

Now then it's possible that your ship will no longer appear textured or textured correctly (if it was already textured). DON'T PANIC. It doesn't matter how it looks, when you save your ship it will still be textured correctly.
