Importing Ships into Homeworld

Step 5

Now we have to turn those .psd's into .lif's. This is done using liflist (the Homeworld version can be found here). I don't know if anywhere actually hosts the Cataclysm liflist but a couple of people on The Gaming Union message board have it (including me). So just ask if you need it (I'm not sure but I think you will only need it for Cataclysm if you're making a Textures ll file for Cataclysm).

You will first have to setup a directory structure. Make new folders in the order displayed in the following diagram.

The datasrc folder will contain the .psd textures you wish to convert, and the data folder will contain .LiF files which are produced after using Liflist. The ref.mif file is essentially a renamed text file, and should be opened in notepad.

The textures you want to convert should be placed in the datasrc folder, making sure that they are in .psd format, with the renamed layer. Also note the textures should not be named with spaces. I.e. Steamrunner1 NOT Steamrunner 1.

Open the ref.mif, and the contents will read like this:

#

TEXTURES += your texture name here.lif

Then add similar TEXTURES += [whatever].lif for all the other .psds you want to convert. This is mine for just the Steamrunner,
