Units/Gameplay cont.:
The units in this game provided another leaning-pole Homeworld: Cataclysm. Unlike other games which have few units; many units were available to me which all had unique properties. This game allowed units to not only be built from the mothership but also from smaller, faster (but still rather slow) ships called cruisers. These cruisers could also repair damaged ships. I liked these large cruisers because they too could house "farm-like" structures, thus increasing my maximum amount of ships. I was very much impressed by the highly unique and configurable experience Homeworld Cataclysm supplied me with.
Multiplayer:
Multiplayer provided me with a couple different routes of entertainment. I could play against the computer, or other online players. Unlike single-player where you carry your ships and buildings over to the next mission, you start off from scratch and have to go through the technology tree in order to build bigger and faster ships that pack more firepower. The technology tree creates an element of strategy: you can rush, or try to make your ships as powerful as possible within a short amount of time. One item which impressed me greatly about multi-player Homeworld: Cataclysm was with big ships, such as cruisers, or frigates, you can make them hyperjump directly to a place on the map. This was great for ambushes or aiding ships in need. All I can say about the multi-player experience, is that it was incredibly fun and very addicting.
Conclusion:
Homeworld Cataclysm has a very unique aura about it that is very hard to find around other games. This game is truly unique and entertaining. The enormous amount of configurable options for satisfying your fleet's needs was incredible. I have not come across a game with as many options. The graphics provided me with a visually pleasing game that was backed by a decent storyline with well placed cinematics.
