Where is the Land?
Space…. The final frontier… The place where all hell breaks loose -- where evil lurks and death and destruction follow…. Yep as Cartoon Network would put it “Space is the place”. This is definitely no different from the setting of Homeworld: Cataclysm.
I think I should go ahead and make sure everyone is in the know on one thing, Homeworld: Cataclysm is the sequel to one of the most enriched RTS games I have played to date, Homeworld. Now that you all are all in the know I can state clearly that the sequel is just as good.
The story is simplistic but nice on an overall scale. It’s been several years since the original Homeworld took place. At the conclusion of the original the Kushan (the main race) retook their old home world from the Taiidan Empire. Unfortunately the colonists that inhabited the world got there in a bit of disarray – hey you try moving to a new planet and see how it works out. Fortunately to give us some sort of a plot as the industrious clan known as the Somtaaw rose up and built a mining ship they so lovingly called Kuun-Lan. With this ship they took to the stars to look for a better future.
Hook and Line
What follows is what you must deal with. After picking up an unknown piece of space debris sh1t starts to happen and things couldn’t seem to get any worse. Some form of organic alien infects your ship and the people on it. After this a form of intelligence comes and is hereafter called, The Beast – which as other people have also eluded to is much like the Borg from Star Trek. Your job is to stop this nasty mess from screwing over the rest of the galaxy let alone the universe. Hey you started it might as well finish it right?
