Where is all began
I have been building models since I was about 10 years old. I mosly built airplanes when I was a kid, but I had built an occasional Star Trek or Star Wars model. As I got older, I started getting more serious about them. I eventually got an air brush from my parents and I aquired some better tools. Then the internet came along and I found all sorts of great info on model building. As I learned more from reading, I skills quickly improved. I was able to make models that didn't come in a kit, and I learned how to use aftermarket add on kits. And now I can make some pretty cool models. At some point in there, I had a friend who had some server space, so I built a web page for fun.
That site has turned into this. I'm also something of a computer geek, so this is a nice melding of two of my favorite hobbies. In fact, I even won an award for my site and models.
But who am I? I am a pilot in the Air Force. I had always wanted to fly when I was a kid, and I managed to make my dream come true. I flew C-141s around the world for a couple years, and I had a lot of fun doing it. But the C-141 went away and I came to Las Vegas to fly the Predator. A remote controlled spy plane. Not as fun as going around the world, but intersting nonetheless. I am now getting read to get out of the Air Force and move on to civilian life. I got married and had kids, so I want to do something that doesn't take me to all ends of the world without them.
My Workspace
My workspace is currently in the garage. It's a decent place to build my models. I have a nice spray booth, a good place to keep my tools, and I don't have to wory about spilling anything on the carpet. I can also run the compressor without bugging the family, so it's a good place to work.
For a part of summer it gets up to 115° during the day. On those days it's even hot at night. I usually don't do much modeling on those days. When it's nice out though, I can spend all afternoon or all evening working on my models. My older daughter likes to watch me, and when she's old enough I'm sure she'll want to build a model too.
