Review of Langy's An Empire Reborn :: 04/14/01 - [DP]Ghent96 ::

I would just like to say that the fan fiction - Empire Reborn by Langy - is by my opinion, not up to par with the other fan fiction of the HW universe, nor does the author attempt to corroborate nor sustain any resolved OR continuing storylines from the other noted authors so far. Langy takes an approach that neglects nearly the entire body of post HW and HW:C fiction that exists. He should be advised to re-edit his stories to maintain compatibility. This in no way is meant to stifle creativity, but rather ensure a coherant and united flow to the storylines of HW fan fiction.

Problems:

- The issues and outcomes of the Kadeshi Crusade are not dealt with nor mentioned.

- It is highly HIGHLY unlikely that a bound Bentusi faction defeated the much more powerful and coordinated Unbound Bentusi, nor has the existence of the bound Bentusi been mentioned or even speculated anywhere. This issue should first be addressed, before Langy jumps into a storyline where Bound Bentusi suddenly exist AND have wiped out their Unbound brothers.

- The problem of the meddling and increasingly evil TiaMat is not addressed; a race much mor likely to side with the Imperialists... the reason? "to increase the chaos and upheaval in the universe for our own enjoyment" - likely quote from a T-Mat.

- The Turanic Raiders have grown increasingly weary and disloyal of their servitude to the Taiidani, and in many fiction pieces have severed all or most ties with teh Imperial Taiidan.

- No mention of the Ytterbian conflict is given, even tho the author borrows weapon designs that were most likely gleaned from this encounter.

- The author jumps into a timeframe most suitable for HW 2, or even beyond that timeframe, which is unacceptable at this point, and can cause too many dead ends and obsolete storylines until AFTER this game comes out or more of its' plot is revealed.
