New Email - beej :: 11.02.03 ::
Apologies for the lack of stuff on my part. I have been busy with that pesky "life" thing, especially the sections entitled "school" and "work". In any case, I have a new KI-related email: beej@relicnews.com. Please direct anything for me to there... I've also changed the links above the news to reflect the new addy. Thank you and goodnight.

More Updates! - CCTSMaster :: 10.17.03 ::
Well well well.
Just wanted to tell ya that we've got even more stories converted and uploaded.
Be sure to read them and point out any bugs to me, as i've used ITC(Iopia Text Converter) to convert them.
Well, to help the lazy folks out there that really needs to submit stories to us,
here's the links for the latest stories:

Homie's World, by Ben Tusi
To Unbind, by Don Armageddon
UECV Frontier, by Firelance

That should keep you busy for some time until i get the time to convert some more.
And, as i said earlier, please keep those submissions flowing!

Updates! Honestly! - beej :: 07.24.03 ::
The Amazing InocPrime has, in the past two weeks since he's been "employed", done more work here than I have in the past two months... we now have 5 fresh, shiny, and new stories up! We have Moreaugarin's Crusade by Bufnila, a bit of a fantasy rather than sci-fi short; a Repair Bot Pilot's Story by Dan Cicon; OddSpace (would the author please contact me?); and a pair of stories by Inoc himself, Kadeshi Champions and Kadeshi Void.

Not only that, Inoc continues to work hard, and we are, as always, accepting submissions (hint hint), so keep watching... it seems things are picking up around here.

Also, I have removed the downloadable .pdf files, which really streamlines things for us and looks a lot less cluttered... if anyone has a problem with this, email me.

New slave! More updates! - beej :: 07.11.03 ::
Hurray! Fresh meat!

Recently I got a new volunteer to help out on the site - InocPrime, a rather enthusiastic fellow who reminds me of a younger me, only perhaps a bit quicker on the uptake. With him helping out (and actually helping out, seeing as he has that rare commodity known as "free time") things will hopefully start moving around here again. Which is good. So, if you've got something you want to submit, then send it over, or contact InocPrime by using this handy link.

Also, I'm going to be getting rid of a lot of the junk and clutter on the site. We'll no longer have the downloadable PDF files for printing, as they seem to be more fuss than they're worth. The news archive and reviews will likely go also - the goal of all this pruning is essentially to streamline the site and return to our original purpose of being a fiction archive. If you have a problem with any of this, or have a suggestion for something else to be removed or added, then feel free to let me know.

That's all for now, folks, but check up on us - with any luck, Kiith Iopia is going to emerge from its long hibernation, what with this new member of the staff and hopefully some tools for the job forthcoming.

Hooray for updates - beej :: 03.17.03 ::
Wow. It's been a while.

Essentially it looks as though, despite the fact that the promised scripts were said to be forthcoming a short while ago, we're going to have to pull an update anyway, because stuff is piling up and I know people are getting pissed off. To that end I have recruited my lovely assistant Ghost Bear to do the whole posting thing, since my FTP is broken, etc. Email him here should you have a priority story submission.

In other news, a fellow known as CCTSMaster has volunteered his time and energy programming a "Kiith Iopia Story Converter" to help us here on the administration end. Once it's complete, no longer shall we have to spend hours and hours poking through text to find the right places to put all the code that makes the text readable, but simply cut-and-paste to get a high-quality SHTML file ready for posting. That means that the posting of stories will be a less time-consuming affair and I might be able to do it again (actually I am more lazy than busy, but this new program will make things easier on me anyway). Yay. What that means, in a nutshell, that you may see a heightened number of updates here soon, and hopefully the number of submissions will increase as a result, and so we might actually get a nice flow of stories coming in, at least until we get the scripts and we have to redo the database. Hopefully, though, the new scripts will be easy to update as well and the flow will not be halted. There was a point to all this, but I lost it in my little rant. Oh yes. Thank him should you see him, I think he floats around on the forums and such. Also anticipate more activity around here, as I'm getting as sick of this not-updating crap as much as you are, and this new tool should make things easy enough that I'll actually do some work.

Addendum - beej :: 08.30.02 ::
Since I found another free minute I thought it might be nice to let you all know what new features we will add and what old features we will drop in the update when it comes. Hopefully, when the new scripts come you will be able to do something previously unheard of here: search. That is, type into a little box the title or author that you want and get results. I believe you'll also be able to view a printable version of the page for offline reading, though I'd have to ask Flow on that. We're also going to be shedding a lot of the extraneous crap around here... the "chromeless" interface will likely go, since it really is kinda pointless, and the news archive (unless it's automatic) will go as well. Depending on if we can get some frequent contributors, the reviews might or might not stay, and I may be wrong but it might be possible for you to just hit "submit review", type into a box what you want to say, and click a button to put it into our authorization queue. If anyone has any complaints or suggestions about these changes feel free to email me.

That more or less covers it. Don't expect any additional updates until we get the scripts/new layout. When that happens I will be sure to post a statement on the Relic Boards and have someone slap something up on the main RN page. Possibly HWU will even report it... maybe. At that point I'll be recruiting manservants to recreate and update the database... possibly take over... etc etc. In the meantime please do not ask about or comment on the lack of updates, news, or both for my sanity's sake.

[END OF LINE]

Our state of affairs - beej :: 08.29.02 ::
Well, ok. Things here are in a bit of a mess, as you may have noticed.

In short, the story is such. The main RN page, as you may also have seen, got a semi-recent facelift. I've been trying to get Overflow to give us the scripts and a new look, but he's busy. There's also another problem. Because we'd be using scripts, we would have to redo the whole database. Thus, I determined that it would be pointless to update because we'd have to just redo anything we added anyway. At that point I thought the wait would be about a month. I was horribly wrong. Sorry folks.

I will be sure to let you know when we get our desired facelift and scripts, through any way necessary. However I have been and will continue to be pretty busy. Thus, when we do get the scripts, I will be looking for people to help out with updating the site and redoing the database, and possibly even someone to take over for me, though we'll have to see about that much.

That's the official story. We are waiting for an overhaul which it has taken far longer than anticipated to get, and I'm too bogged down to go through the whole mess of updating the database as it stands - it's horribly hard work. Please bear with us, feel free to check in from time to time, but don't expect any new stories until you swing by and everything looks completely different. Feel free to keep sending in submissions, but I cannot promise you they will be up within any given timeframe.
