The story as we know it so far

"Homeworld2 continues the epic struggle of the Hiigarans and their leader Karan S’jet. Many thought their hardships would end when they returned to Hiigara, but fate would not be so kind to the Exiles. From the Inner Rim, the Hiigarans face a new and bitter enemy wielding the power of the ancients. HomeWorld 2 focuses on the valiant journey of the Mothership and its crew. This journey takes the Hiigarans into oldest regions of the galaxy to confront their new foe and learn the truth behind their exile. In Homeworld, the Exiles reclaimed their home. In Homeworld 2, they reclaim their destiny. As a carefully crafted sequel that stays true to the epic spirit of the original, Homeworld 2 delivers an immersive and satisfying experience to both new consumers and loyal fans alike." -- Dan Irish

100 years following the return home, the Hiigaran civilization is flourishing in their new standing.

They are progressing rapidly in a new era of prosperity.

A new race, the Vaygr show up on the scene to contest the Hiigarans role in the galaxy.

This race has technologies derived from those of the ancient races of the galaxy.

This race introduces new challenges and threats to the Hiigaran system and home planet.

The Vaygr are possibly a renegade clan from one of the inner rims of the galaxy.

The Vaygr technology is far different from the Hiigaran than Taiidan technologies were.

There will be no technology sharing between the different fleets.

HomeWorld2 takes you on a journey to fight the Vaygr and to uncover your destiny.

The journey will answer the question of Hiigaran exile.

Many questions left unanswered in HomeWorld will be answered in HomeWorld2.

We will find out who the Bentusi are and why they are always showing up.

We will find out where hyperspace technology came from.

Hiigaran fleet composition is well rounded.

Vaygr fleet composition is specialized in nature.

Color customization will return, plus a 80x80 texture badge can be added to your ships (texture size has been restated as 64x64 so the size is actually now in question).

HomeWorld2 WILL have an expansion detailing the Vaygr side of the story.
