The story of the Kushan Exodus to Hiigara is well known and often recited. We know all about the trials and tribulations experienced during the voyage. It took 6 months for our people to travel from our prison, Kharak, to our rightful home Hiigara. Our struggle to regain our homeworld changed the face of galactic civilization, it ended our 3,000 year exile and in the process the tyrannical Taidani Empire was torn asunder.

Our return to Hiigara was in the year 1216 by the Kharakian calendar, year 9,510 of the Galactic Standard calendar. Kiith Sjet, in honor of our momentous return, declared the start of a new calendar on the day the Kushan people first set foot on our homeworld. This landfall marked the first day of a new Year Zero. From that day forward days and years were measured by Hiigara's period of rotation and period of revolution around it's sun.

By this new dating system the year is 15 AHL, after Hiigaran Landfall (GSY 9525). Many new problems have been worker through, once strong Kiithid had been reduced to mere shadows of their former glory, in some cases entire Kiithid have been lost due to the burning of Kharak and the attacks perpetrated on the cryogenic trays. Political jockeying had given rise to a movement to absorb the now smaller Kiithid bodies known as sleepers.

Many smaller kiithid had bent under the pressures of survival and accepted vassal status in one of the sevral stronger kiithid. Seven years after landfall the Somtaaw Kiith struggled against absorbtion into the Naabal kiith. During this struggle the ranks of Kiith Somtaaw grew from 15,000 to 25,000 as one after another sleeper kiith joined them in their fight to remain soverign. After much political debate and with the support of kiithid Soban and Paktu, kiith Somtaaw had secured their future as an independent political body.

After securing independence, kiith Somtaaw was granted access to the Mothership Station to build their own ships. Granted six months of exclusive access the Somtaaw built and launched two complete mining vessels, the Kuun-Lan and the Fal-Corum, within 45 days. With their access time drawing to a close a final ship was built, a top-of-the-line deep space research vessel named the Clee San. Our story begins and follows the lives aboard the ship Kuun-Lan.

The Kuun-Lan is central in the struggle against a new and deadly creature known only as the beast. A creature of unknown potential that has the ability to infect and subvert enemy ships into it's own fleet. The Somtaaw being responcible for the release of this new threat to the galaxy at large, must seek out and discover a means of defeating this menace. You direct the Kuun-Lan and her support ships, you must aid her in the destruction of this new enemy, all the while defending from and defeating the Hiigaran people's old enemies the Turanic Raiders and Imperial Taidani Loyalists.
