Maps and Custom Modifications

Most downloadable maps in Age of Empires are of the single player custom Scenario variety, since the random map generator can provide good multiplayer maps automatically. Nonetheless, a few specially built multiplayer maps can be found. As for custom mods, there don't appear to be that many (yet!), other than those that nip and tuck at existing graphics and sounds in the game itself. Unlike many fantasy or sci-fi themed games, AoE2 fans aren't out to recreate entirely new races or fabulous creatures, since its all grounded in historical fact.

	Aoe2 Addicts is a clear and succinct AoK site orientated towards campaigns and scenarios. The description of the AoE2 Addicts team says it all. This is no den of pimply, scurvy ridden l33t dickheads, nay! Hail to thee blythe Addicts! Birds thou never wert, That from heaven or near it, pourest thy full heart In profuse strains of unpremeditated art.
	Age of Kings Heaven's The Blacksmith A giant map downloads page. Huge selection of sorted single player, multiplayer, and campaign maps, AI's, mods and design articles.
Planet Age of Empires Downloads	Along with its excellent strategy section, PlanetAoE has collated a large selection of rated custom Scenarios and some custom Campaigns to pick from. There's a number of other utility and AI sections worth checking out.
MPS Homepage	MPS, or Mod Pack Studio, is an actual AoK custom mod editor, which not only allows you to edit the game's elements but also installs the edited mods afterwards for you.
The Modpack Stable	Excellent all in one mod pack info and resource centre, located at the JKA Clan. Pretty much everything you need to know about how to build an AoK custom mod and install it, FAQ's etc. plus a large list of mods to download. Supports MPS (see above).
