Game Dev FAQ
Game Dev Articles

Relic gets a fair amount of e-mail from people asking about the best way to get into the gaming industry, what the jobs involve, and how to prepare for a career in game development. This FAQ will attempt to answer the most commonly asked questions.

If you have any questions that you'd like to see added to this list, please feel free to contact the webmaster of this site and we'll add them to the list.

1. How does a person get started in the gaming industry?

This really depends from person to person. Your best bet, however, is to get a degree in your chosen field, get a little experience (most companies offer internship positions) and then apply to work at a gaming company.

2. What's involved in game development?

Mostly long hours sitting in front of a computer, while wishing you were outside. Seriously though, game development is an exciting field as you get to work with cutting-edge technology and create games that are... let's face it, really fun.

3. What sites do you recommend if I want to learn more about the industry?

An excellent source for industry information, tutorials, and other various bits of information is www.gamedev.net. If you haven't visited it yet, we encourage you to do so as it may answer a lot of your questions.
