This Map; Jovian Rings (by TAKER, aka James Tooman) is the third of the three great maps that deserve to be on every computer, nestling nicely in that multiplayer folder. The other two; Genesis-240D (also by TAKER) and Planetary Wars (by Hellhawk666) I've already covered.

Jovian Rings, is another huge map where the initial distances between players acts as a kind of buffer zone against the rush and swarm tactics employed by a remarkably successful cadre of good players. This map is what Homeworld is all about, balanced fleets are a priority as there are ample resources to get all 6 players up to speed, resources are nicely scattered meaning that you will need to keep an eye on your harvesters while conducting your own harvest-disruption sorties.

The map is Gorgeous to look at, the playing area is in a small section of rings that surround a planetary body, with the 3D enhanced by a couple of well made comets. Enough Resources to provide a tense battle where wastage is not forgiven. And a well thought out layout where the focal point becomes two small harvestable (and regenerating) moons at the edges of the rings themselves.

This map is fantastic, I cant stress this enough, TAKER has used the best elements of Genesis-240D and built a fantastic map offering a longer game where 'strategy' becomes important, something forgotten in the majority of maps available at the time of writing.

It has been commented on in previous reviews that this map offers the chance for epic battles if you only add some resources injections, while not an advocate of the injection game, if I had to play a map with injections, this would be the one.

All in all another great map by TAKER that captures the essence of homeworld. Download it. Download it NOW.
