This is a "skirmish map" or "battle map", as I like to call them. Instead of building and harvesting, you simply start with a large fleet and battle to the death. I enjoy this type of map, because it is quick and great for showing off the games graphics. In addition, is is a better alternative than playing with no research and big injections. This is probably one of the best Battle maps, because it can handle up to 6 people, whereas most can only handle 2.

The beefy starting fleet includes 2 Destroyers, 1 Missle Destroyer and a Heavy Cruiser, along with a pair of Carriers. Oddly, there are no Frigates. For Fighters, there are 2 squads (24) of each type, and a few Corvettes too. You can't build any ships besides fighters, you're over the unit cap when you start, and you have nothing to harvest. This leads to some intense combat, since the fighters are toast as long as the enemy Missile Destroyer is active. Any starting RU's you are given can be used for Hyperspacing, which gives you some flexible attacking options (or escape options).

Considering this is a battle map, it makes decent use of 3D, by placing the players at different starting heights. It doesn't have any derelicts or unsual asteroid formations, but that would probably hurt the frame rate anyway. The map's size is just about perfect, it's not so small that your instantly in combat, but it's small enough to let you move your fleet around quickly at sublight speeds. Overall, it is a good download, especially if you like quick, dangerous skirmishes.

PS: The CPU AI preforms rather poorly on this map, simply feeding strike craft to your Missile Destroyer.
