I always hated that Homeworld was this massive game that we were forced to play in an itty bitty box. Why do fighters have feul when they always die before they run out? Why is there support frigates if they have nothing to support other than "healing" cap ships? Isnt Space MindBogglingHuge?

Certainly doesn't look that way by the maps that Relic put out, but Genesis-240D changes all that. It is a phenomenal map. Its scale is unprecedented. Its concept humongus. Its scope is trule of epic proportions. This is not a map for people with a slow computer, but lets bear in mind that according to the readme file Relic themselves said, "Everyone here at Relic is in awe. Great job!"

This is a map for the big boys. This map KEPT me playing Homeworld. It has the monster rings of a nascent star system and resources that are used up at an alarming rate. It requires higher-than-average skills to play becasue the distances are so huge and the entire system is tilted at 45 degrees or so. There is so much stuff that it is hard to keep track of where everything is just like in real space. Fleets can pass each other and never engage becasue they werent maneuvered close enough.

Oh! Best of all, there are no Resource Controllers! Holy Cow! Do you have any idea how that changes a game?? When you see an opponents Resource Collector you know that you are near his mother ship or that there is a Carrier in the area! Either way you think twice about picking a fight with that Resourcer.

If your system is not up to handling this map (system specs in the readme say: P2-350 with 96Mb RAM and a 12MB Voodoo2 3D card or better) then there is another version for slower computers called Genesis 240C.

So if you have a good computer and you are looking for an amazing example of truly original and well thought out map design, then you HAVE to give Genesis-240D a try. It is simply the best map ever made for this game. Period.
