Genesis-240D is the first Really Great map to honour the HW engine. A 'Must Have' for all HW owners, it looks just absolutely fantastic, offers a longer game with enough resources to build a hefty fleet, and a tremendous playing area that requires a whole new strategy to play.

The games on this map will take time, with distances so huge, fleets are not so easily reinforced, so your supply routes become more and more important as the game advances, and mistakes less easily forgiven. This means the carrier comes into its own and support vessels really are required for support. It involves Grand strategy on a system-wide scale, culminating in tremendous battles of capital ships as the dwindling resource pockets become tactically important hot-spots, bringing together the players for that climatic end battle! It is difficult to conduct harvesting disruption tactics on this map, as your fighter-wings have to be fully strengthened and supported. This allows most players the time to build a hefty fleet to take on all-comers.

The only downer that I have with this map is the dreadful lag induced by the scale of it, but that's a gripe more accurately levelled at my CPU and Internet connection. It does lag a lot on my CPU/conn, but a 'lite' version exists; (Snappily entitled Genesis-240C) to help with the WON distribution and lag induced by the sheer scale of the map (240C has max 6 players and less rings to increase the FPS rate, a better all round online option when that pause button is disabled).
