"Genesis-240D" doesn't fall into any particular category of it's own - it's its OWN category. This map is indescribably mind-boggling in both scope and size, and is sure to shnooker you right off your feet. The setting for "Genesis" is a forming solar system, complete with 8 planets, an asteroid belt, a comet on an offset oval-shaped orbit, and in the center is a huge forming sun made of dust particles; this is a HUGE map, and a visually stunning one. The sheer dimensions of this map (over 3 000 000 units across!) make it untransferable over WON, and also make it the most strategically-oriented map to date.

"Genesis" has so many positive aspects that it's impossible to name them all without writing an entire book on the subject. What will please advanced players most of all is how strategy-oriented the map is; the massive distances between players defeats any immediate rushing tactics whatsoever (for instance, an unsupported Plasma Bomber group runs out of fuel before reaching the other side of the map), makes intelligent hyperspacing techniques a must, and revitalizes the incredible strategic significance of the Carrier (made even more so by the fact that Resource Controllers are unbuildable). The comparatively limited amount of resources in the map, along with only a thin ring of regenerating gases, make intelligent use of RUs a must. Games tend to be long and at their peak can extend into literally hundreds of sub-battles being fought all along the off-horizontal axis of the map.

However, there are a few problems with "Genesis" as well, most of them stemming from the way people prefer to play their games. There is no quick way to play this map, and action (although mind-tearing a ways into it) is sparse near the beginning, as players consolidate and squabble over 'planets' and other RU-rich sectors of the map. There is also the fact that the map cannot be downloaded over WON, which makes it much more difficult to find people to play MultiPlayer with or against.

Genesis 240-D is one of the greatest maps ever released in the Homeworld community. In all, an incredible feat - download this map IMMEDIATELY!!!
