After having played through every map available from this website, Debris Field remains my firm favourite. The reason is a combination of factors which create a well balanced map that is consistantly fun to play either online or against the computer.

Resources are well tuned and there is the added extra feature of a host of salvagable ships in amongst the planetary rings. These can be either a hazard or a windfall, so good strategy and tactics are rewarded.

Aestheticly the game is outstanding - the author has managed to create a feeling of expansiveness whilst keeping the map small enough to not cause loading or saving problems with older computers. There is plenty of detail, with shards of debris littering the rings. Good use is made of Homeworld's 3D capabilities - this is a great map for taking interesting screenshots!

Overall, Debris Field is attractive, fun and compelling - it makes you want to play again and again.

Highly recommended.
